“Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire” — W.B. Yeats


I love this quote. I feel as it is a misconception of teaching. We, as educators, are not there to fill the student with knowledge. The most successful teachers are those who encourage and inspire their students to want to learn and become more knowledgeable. Just giving students information, as if you were filling a bucket, does not benefit students if a spark is not lit inside them.
